You need to lose the weight, not on the scale, but the one inside your skull.
Stop expecting a plant to grow without checking if the seed is healthy and viable.
Let’s get one thing straight before you blame your age, your kids, your job, or your hormones for the pants that suddenly started screaming every time you zip them up:
You’re not broken. You’re just believing garbage.
Harsh? Maybe. True? Absolutely.
A 2024 study in the Journal of Health Psychology examined over 1,600 individuals participating in a digital weight management program. The research revealed that those who believed their weight could change with effort, a perspective known as a "growth mindset", were more successful in their weight loss journeys. These participants engaged more actively with the program, maintained consistent habits, and achieved greater weight loss compared to those who felt their weight was unchangeable
In simpler terms, women who adopt a “growth mindset”, meaning they believe change is possible and put in effort to grow, are significantly more successful in sustaining weight loss than those who throw their hands up and say, “Welp, guess I’m just built this way now.”
Guess what? That’s NOT self-acceptance. That’s resignation in a cute outfit.
This mindset stuff isn’t just another glittery quote on Pinterest. It’s SCIENCE, baby. And it works especially when life is lifing, when the schedule’s full, sleep’s a luxury, and you're using your toddler's leftover dinosaur nuggets as a “quick lunch.”
Here's the deal:
The women in this study didn’t have magic metabolisms or unlimited gym time.
What they had was “belief”, that they could change, even when life made it hard.
And that belief pushed them to show up for themselves, “again and again.”
So if you're sitting there waiting for motivation to strike like a lightning bolt through your yoga mat, let me save you some time: IT’S NOT COMING. You don’t need a miracle. You need a mindset makeover, and maybe a new set of boundaries around those 9 p.m. chips.

Reality Check Time:
You’re not too old.
You’re not too busy.
You’re not too broken.
You’ve just been fed the wrong narrative for too long.
The narrative that it’s “normal” to give everything to everyone else and leave the crumbs for yourself.
The narrative that your worth is tied to how exhausted and selfless you are.
The narrative that change is for other people, not you.
So instead of trying and trying and trying to lose weight off the scale and not getting any progress, even in your lifestyle. STOP. Solving a problem and jumping right away to the next step will only lead to more and more failures.
When you climb a ladder you don’t expect to jump right away on the 5th step, you will only fall.
A right mind will assess first if the ladder is sturdy, check the surroundings, plan strategies, and making sure everything is prepared to go.
Let’s rip all the mess out at the roots of your mind.
Your Mindset Shift Starts Here:
Stop saying “I’m trying”, and start saying “I’m doing.”
Catch the excuses before they become your story.
MOVE, even when it’s messy. (5 minutes counts. So does dancing while you reheat coffee for the third time.)
This isn’t about perfection. This is about power, yours.
And here at Yellowbirdie Wellness, we don’t do the fragile, fluffy version of self-care. We do the “get-real”, “get-loud”, and “glow-the-hell-up” kind.
Because your future self isn’t waiting for the “right time.” She’s waiting for YOU.
“What you are not changing is what you are choosing.”

But until then? Stand taller, eat like you love yourself, and move like you’re already who you want to become.
P.S. If this ruffled your feathers, good. Change should make you a little uncomfortable before it makes you unstoppable.
